Weaving in the Highlands of Chiapas

One of my favorite places to be is in the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico. Life is simple but full of hardships. Yet, happiness blooms in the gardens, jungle trees, and faces of the families that inhabit these lush lands. Fueled by a beverage made of masa, men's hands work the earth, and the hands of the women weave the threads of traditional garments. They care for the family and pass down knowledge to their daughters to continue their way of life.
